Metal Seated Floating Ball Valve High temperature & Mining Service
Metal-to-metal seated ball valves have outstanding heat durability, and are widely used in for critical and severe service applications where soft seats could not be used, especially when the service is dirty, abrasive, highly corrosive, at high temperatures up to 500℃, or a combination of all.
The metal seats of the ball valves are provided with a wide range of surface treatments done for hardness over softer material to suit almost any application and medium. Stellite alloys, Tungsten Carbide and hard Chrome Alloy coating can additionally be fused to the base metal to form a metallurgical bond, providing high integrity sealing surface which is virtually porous free with hardness up to 70 HRC, depending on the alloy used. Precision lapping of ball and seat together results in superior interfacing for tight shut-off. The balls are machined with high-accuracy and super mirror surface processing. The spring preloaded metal seats ensure the reliability of sealing and stable operating torque.
Design features:
1. Ball And Seat Surface Hardening
Different ball and seat hardening technologies, including HVOF coating, Nickel-base alloys, Tungsten Carbide, Stellite alloys spray welding, etc. are adopted, according to the service conditions. The heat resistance of the sealing face material can reach 540℃~600℃. These materials are also good wear resistant and impact resistant.
2. Flexible Valve Opening and Closing
Under high temperature, the ball and seat expand due to thermal expansion, causing jamming of the ball between 2 seats. By utilizing of disc spring or spring loaded seat, thermal expansion could be absorbed ensuring the flexible opening and closing under high temperature.
3. Fire Safe Sealing Materials
The gaskets of metal-seated ball valves are made of stainless steel + flexible graphite spiral wounded, and the packing is flexible graphite. These fire-proof materials ensure reliable sealing of the valve under high temperature, or even in case of fire.
4. The Metal Seat Design
Metal seated trunnion ball valve could block the fluid entering into the middle cavity. When the valve is closed and the middle cavity is vented, the upstream and downstream seats block the fluid at the inlet and outlet independently, ensuring Double Block & Bleed (DBB) function.
Metal seated floating ball valve could block the fluid discharging from the middle cavity, and normally it’s unidirectional sealing, with flow direction marked on the body. Bidirectional sealing structure are also available upon request.
5. Reliable Sealing Performance
Through rotation of the ball and the grinder at different positions, the ball surface is polished to high roundness and fineness. With both spring preloaded seat sealing and fluid pressure enforced seat sealing, the leakage rate of metal seated ball valves could meet the level IV of ASME B16.104.
